Open City

We Are One is a large-scale interactive light installation that redefines space so that the viewer becomes the image. The installation captures the viewer’s silhouette and incorporates it into the structure of the work. At moments when the entire system reaches perfect synchronisation, it repeats the title phrase like a mantra.

Ksawery Komputery – a studio led by new media artist Ksawery Kirklewski, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. The studio develops original generative systems and audiovisual environments at the intersection of light, sound and space, based on software and hardware designed from scratch. The studio’s works — interactive installations, generative animations, objects combining physical and digital dimensions, and works in public space — operate in real time: image and sound are not played back but calculated live, making every presentation unique. At the centre of this practice lies the question of authorship shared with the machine — what happens when a human writes the rules while the system generates the form.

The studio’s works have been presented at, among others, NXT Museum in Amsterdam, ARTECHOUSE in Washington, Signal Festival in Prague and during Miami Art Week. Ksawery Komputery is the organiser of the AVX Festival and co-creator of the audiovisual performance HOLOTRIGGER.
