Coming Soon draws on the tradition of ephemeral interventions whose mechanism resembles campaigns conducted in urban space: dispersed, appearing and disappearing, and building a sense of anticipation. The difference is that Escalera and Void are not announcing a product or a spectacle. They ask what it is that we are actually waiting for, entering into dialogue with the viewer, who must answer the question for themselves.
Alejandro Dorda Mevs / Axel Void – interdisciplinary artist, curator and educator whose practice explores relationships with everyday life, belonging and marginality; the rituals of ordinary life; ethical ambiguity; attitudes towards what is repulsive and beautiful; and the ways in which social systems and mechanisms of perception shape inner and social life.
He works with photography, film, sound, music, publishing projects, theatre, drawing, sculpture and painting, creating affective and relational moments, spaces and objects. Alongside his independent artistic practice, he collaborates with STOMA, a community-based art and education project focused on archives, storytelling and public exchange.
Muriel Escalera – interdisciplinary artist whose practice combines film, anthropology, music, painting, theatre, public art, photography and education. Her work explores the boundaries between fiction and reality in human life and traditions.
She works with son jarocho, a musical tradition that inspired her debut feature film Toro entre aguas. Her short films have been presented in galleries and independent spaces in Mexico, Cádiz, Argentina and New York. She has taught documentary film production and analysis at the Luis Buñuel University, collaborated with the La Soledad theatre company during festivals in Spain, and led workshops on music and language in Switzerland.
She is currently working on two feature films, El círculo virtual and Santeria, and is a member of STOMA, a New York-based community art and education project focused on archives, storytelling and public exchange.
