JERZY ZYŚKO

Born in 1963 in Lublin. He studied painting and drawing at the workshop of Ryszard Lis at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (1981-85) and then under Józef Hałas at the Faculty of Painting of Wrocław’s State Higher School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1990. He has had a long-running connection with Lublin. An author of paintings-objects, graphics and site-specific art, Zyśko is a thoughtful and ironic observer of contemporary culture and the role of an artist in it. At the same time, inspired by the conceptual approach, he tests the boundaries of art. His objects are constructed with “ready-mades”, whose meanings and functions he clashes with each other to surprising effects.
